RE: Helicopter crash video
As I watched this video I couldn't help but wonder when he realized that he may have missjudged his ability as a pilot and his whole body went numb from fear. I gonna take a wild guess and say that it was as soon as he left the ground. "Hey ya'll...watch this!"

RE: Helicopter crash video
I wonder if he would've paid for any aircraft or vehicles he'd damaged, 'cause he sure as hell wasn't flying with any insurance!!!

2 words - "FOOLISH IDIOT!!"
I honestly feel he should be arrested for endangering the safety of others by pulling a foolish stunt like that. There HAS to be some sort of law that he broke by doing that.

Had I been there, I would have clapped and told him to do it again. That was actually a good flight considering he had never flown before. He probably climbed to an altitude of 80 feet before he landed on the tail rotor...

That is basically the model that I learned to fly in when they were made by Hughes. Those are squirrelly enough when you learn how to fly them! It is a recip engine and probably had manual throttle, so that makes it even harder to learn. I think it took me around 3 days and close to 4 hours to learn to hover it. The aircraft in the video was doomed from the beginning with that idiot.
There was an incident in Korea about 20 years ago when a crew chief stole a Blackhawk one night. He had learned the start sequence by watching. He got it to up to around 100 feet and circled. He didn't know what to do next and elected to crash it in the fire pond. He walked away from it....right into a court martial. That is the incident that made units install key systems in every aircraft in the fleet.
