EPP Foam wings are tough but not indestructible
After 2 years of beating up on my Combat Wings XE trying to learn how to fly I finally found a way to kill one. It survived multiple full speed vertical impacts with the earth and trees. A 4000 lb SUV rolling over the top of the plane after I overshot the landing and ended up on the street did the trick (did I mention that the plane was inverted at the time). I think the model did OK considering what could have happened. The damage: battery is a loss (took the worst of it), balsa elevon crushed, stripped servo gear, missing push-rods, broken prop, bent motor mount, broken wire lead to the motor, wrinkled covering material. Not bad considering a CAR RAN OVER MY PLANE!!! I'll have to be more careful when flying in town next time.

Even though it was probably repairable, I put a lot of training hours into this wing (both building and flying) and I was itching to get a new wing. I got the eSlayer and put in a maiden flight today. I'm almost glad my old plane got run over. The new plane is great.
