Default I Crashed My Turbine...sort of (video)

I maidened my AV8R turbine this weekend.
It flew fantastic!

On the landing I had a combination of nose heavy and too much throw in the ailerons and I crashed!

But this thing is so tough that nothing was broken, bent or loose.
I went on to fly it a few more times right after this incident.

Check out the video. If this had been a fiberglass fuse it would have been trashed.
Listen to the cameraman gasp lol

You still managed to make a category 1 Landing in the maiden flight !!(the plane is still in 1 piece) good to see a uncensored true-life video. Regards, Enrique

If it were an asphalt runway, you would have lost the plane. Cartwheels are the worst thing that can happen to a plane

That landing wasn't so bad on her first flight! Looks like one of my normal landings!

I proved this wrong just a few hours ago.
I put flight number 8 on it this evening at a field with an asphalt runway.
30mph winds and full flaps coming in to land. I got too slow and it got out of sorts on me real fast.
I did almost the identical cartwheel again.....scraped up nose and wing tip but it was still flyable 10 minutes later. This is one TOUGH airplane.
If any of you guys are looking to get into a turbine trainer, this thing is a tank!

I think that this cartwheels would be rather frequent in your plane, unless you do the best of landings all times. The nose strut is much more flexible than your main gear, so , if you bounce it at landing, you will be rising the plane's nose at a low speed at that means a tip stall and a cartwheel. Also putting the cg nearer the main gear would help too. Hope that this would help, Enrique.
