Oshkosh Crash 1999
Hi, here are some pictures of the crash at Oshkosh 1999. 2 Bearcats was on the middel of the runway, when 2 Corsairs began their takoff roll. One of the Corsairs hit the wing of one of the bearcats, ond he rolled over in flames(pilot survived).[img][/img] Does anyone have vids of this?

Saw this on the news when it happened. I feel sad when we lose an old warbird to mechanical problems, but when we lose one due to stupidity, like what happened here, it really ticks me off. Sorry, don't know where you can find the video, but I'll tell you, it wasn't pretty!

I'm with you Chris. I hate to see an old warbird lost. Of course the pilot surviving is the best news. This is a little off subject.......but..... I will never buy Gieco car insurance. Was it really necessary to roll a 1968 Camero rag top over a cliff to make a commercial.

RE: Oshkosh Crash 1999
I have a small video of this, but its very short.
The fault here was the air boss(controller). The to bearcats began their takeoff roll, when Howard Parude's bearcat experienced some engine problems. They then stopped on the runway, and he began testing the engine. The air boss then gave Navy Flight go for takeoff, the 2 Corsairs at the end of the runway then began their takeoff roll. Just a few hundred feet from the Bearcats the pilots of the Corsairs saw the other planes on the runway, they then tried to get around them. One of them did, but the second Corsair clipped the wing of the Bearcat and rolled over in flames.
Just 5 minutes before I was out on the runway where the crash happened, i was working as a volunteer at Fly-By Operations. And saw the hole ting, I will never forget that metal sound when those wings hit.
I just hate when rare warbirds go down.
I have seen several crashes at Oshkosh, most where IDIOTS. Like one who landed between the runways, he thought that it was a grass runway when there are 2 taxiways and one huge runway.

There was a link to a video of this crash in this thread;

But it doesn't seem to be working for me now.
