This is a good reason to not "night-fly" during daylight hours!!! I was getting ready to do a demo flight in about an hour and thought I'd get in a "shake-down" flight before Mother Nature turned out the lights. After the tail rotor gear box fatigued and broke I "death-spiraled" thru a Maple tree and splatted next to my garden. I had my son go get my coveralls and his foam head he'd been screwing around with and staged this mock disaster. You'd be surprised at how many naive nit-wits actually thought I chopped his head off!! The worst thing about the whole affair was losing my night-blades at the very start of the warm weather!!
