inverted landing/H-9 super stick
I decided I would start thanksgiving off the right way with an early morning flight, so I took out the hangar-9 super stick and headed for the field. It was windy...gusts up to 45..wich normally I wouldn't fly with gusts that strong, but I said "what the heck, I have flown plenty in windy conditions".....lol...bad idea. To make a long story short, I was coming in on final and at about 10 feet off the runway a strong gust flipped the plane inverted and I didn't react quickly enough to prevent an "inverted landing". Firewall was ripped out, both wing tips were severely damaged and the vertical stab was removed.
I have already completed my repairs...but I have a question for you guys. I chopped the wings down to the second rib in line from the tips and that cut 10" off my total wingspan. I'm sure loosing this much drag and weight will improve speed...but what about handling...will my slow speed charachteristics drop significantly or mildly??? Will my maneuverability increase much, if at all???
Any thoughts on this are appreciated...thanks
