RE: Me-262 crash
Ok, since nobody else seems to have heard about this... I believe that this is a restored ME-262 owned by Paul Allen (of Microsoft fame). He has a collection of WWII-era fighters that are currently undergoing restoration. Anyway, a year (or so) ago they attempted to fly the 262 and I honestly cannot remember if it was a takeoff or landing problem, but the result is what you see above. I believe that the pilot was not hurt and I know that they said they would fix the plane and it would fly again.
I did a quick Google search but couldn't come up with anything specific on the incident. Here is a link that talks a little about the collection itself though:

Dear All
This model belongs to John Greenfield, from England.
I think the model is roughly 1/2 scale.
It is powered by two AMT Olympus. engines.
It has since been rebuilt.
John is one of the best modeller's in the UK.
Hope this clears this matter up.
Regards Phil Goff.

RE: Me-262 crash
I saw this plane and some other simply HUGE models on a webpage a few months ago. I think most of the pictures came from a fly in where this picture was taken. If anyone knows the address to that page link it for us. I was going to add it to my favorites but I never did. Those models across the pond are surely something to see.

RE: Me-262 crash
This mishap happened this summer in Belgium on a show called Jets over Pampa (rapidly becoming one of the major events in Europe).
It appears that a bolt sheared off from the nosewheel during landing... nosewheel collapses... plane starts to dig in...

RE: Me-262 crash
wow ... simply wow
i dont think id ever be able to build a plane of that scale, i could do it, but the thought of watching it go down would be to much to bear
and for that amount of $, id rather build an experimental aircraft that i could climb into myself
and chance that that 262 was built out of coroplast and was easily repaired w/ a few new u sections of aluminium and duct tape ?
