Well I had my first real crash Tuesday on my third flight.

I started off the first flight which lasted 15 minutes several touch and goes loops rolls etc took 15 minutes and landed. Refueled and noticed the aileron servo wire stuck between the wing and fuse, so unbolted the wing slid the wire inside and re-bolted the wing retested the controls and took off flew 8 minutes till I dead sticked landing was good. So I refueled took Taxied lifted off then I noticed no aileron control, I moved the stick sever times side to side no luck, said Oh S**T, took a look at the transmitter(like that was going to help). by now the plane is 25 feet up and rolling to the right 30 degrees the plane continues the roll I add some up and eventually returns to the field and hits while the wing is vertical with the nose down 15 degrees. I did not idle back or try rudder, it was just all to fast for this newbie.

When I went to get my plane to my surprise the aileron servo was still working but the entire right wing and aileron connection was destroyed, I wonder was it just me? Did it really happen? Was the pinched wire at fault.

Well I got a great 65 flights out of her before she went down given time I will probably rebuild here.

Well I rebuilt her. I cut off the right wing and built a new one from scratch, added sheeting to the turtle deck. D tubed both wings. Made a hatch for fuel tank access, modified the wings to hold 2 servos, one for each aileron. Recovered the wings and fuse from the tail feathers forward.

Re-assembled the fuse from existing parts, I just doubled up on any break point with 1/16 ply on the inside.

I took her out and flew it on December 14th. it flew great and was well worth the effort to repair.

Great Job!! Guess that's the name of the game.

1. Fly'em
2. Break'em
3. Make'm better!

Thanks for all the good comments.

I was out 12-29 and flew again, it was 32 degrees and 10-15 mph winds. Flying is just to much fun, I can't just sit home and build all the time!

We were flying at about the same time in similar conditions in N. IL.

Isn't this stuff great!
