Sea Hawk sheared off during fullpower dive
I learned the hard way and I am very luck! My cousins came over and wanted to see how high my Gee Bee Sea Hawk would go so I took it up until I couldn't see which way it was going. I put it into a dive and held it thinking that I would just gently pull out at the bottom. I was probably 300 - 500 feet up when I sensed that it wasn't responding. It went into the lake like a missle and the wing fluttered down for probably 20 - 30 seconds. Before the dive I noted that no boats were in the area, but still shudder to think what could have happened.

What a waste to prove a point. It's a weird thing though, when people come up to me where I fly and they are interested , the first question they ask is how high can it go 
I say " so high you and I wouldn't be able to see the plane" then I just keep flying as normal and tell the guy to stay behind me at all times.

thats what a high tide can do! just came out of nowhere with no time to respond

Some planes were made to go fast and survive some g loads and some are not....... Yours was one of those that are not.
Sorry for the loss, get a Seamaster lol. Fun plane and a hoot to fly.
