Sig Somethin' Extra Fuse Set?
Anyone have a fuse set for the Sig SE that they wouldn't mind parting with that isn't damaged? Somethin' Extra went down earlier today and we have two good wings left....Think the right wing separated from the fuse and spiralled in...Email to [email protected] or just post back here.
Thanks

RE: Sig Somethin' Extra Fuse Set?
Decided to rebuild....
was more or less a puzzle putting the front end back together, the plane was kit-built by another gentleman, but he did not include the plans when he sold it to a local hobby shop where we purchased it, So i had to rebuild the re-kitted front end of the plane, was almost fun....hehe, I'll post pics when finished before re-covering.

Here's a photo of each side...haven't put the firewall back in yet, the first former back was in 4 pieces....The plans would've helped, all but done now, thanks..
What happened, or what I believe to have happened was that the rubber bands holding the wing together in the center either sprung or snapped letting the right wing slide out enough to come off of the second little dowel rod that keeps it from acting as a huge aileron. It started rolling and went all crazy....all I could do was throttle back and watch. Anyone attach the wing differently on this plane?

Some use o rings, I'm going to use zip ties. I used bike inner tube cross sections on my first one and the wing pieces were still together when it went full throttle into the corn.[:'(] Others also use a spring, but I'm not sure how good it is.
Hope this helps.

Thanks woops, I like the zip-tie idea.....seems like it would be better than the rubber band that the kit uses....this is what caused the crash in the first place, plane flew nice, real nice...
Why did yours go down???

It was my trainer and my instructor forgot to raise the antena[:@][:'(]. It was probably going 100mph when it hit the very dry ground in the middle of a drought(think concrete). I'm building a second now.

That gives me an idea im sure most have already pondered.
take the rear dowel out, and use the wings a ailerons, pivoting on the aluminum tube...hmmmmmm wonder what the roll rate would be? and would it even fly?
anyone tried this?

Hehe, you would need about 275% exponential to have it controllable, heh.....
The right wing was a huge aileron, not too fun, as soon as I would get it back semi-controlled, it would start swingin' again. Would be interesting to see.....The roll rate is already pretty fast on high-rate aileron with the mechanical limit of deflection, about 40 degrees or so.....Ailerons could easily be made larger on a bird like this.

interesting! I wonder if the needed torque is that much because the aluminium tube is at the balance axis of the wing. There is supposed to be a minimum torque around this.
