Telemaster crash/video
Hello all
Wing joiner snapped and the wing folded, onboard wireless camera smashed, siren smashed, engine and radio gear ok tho.
First part of video is plane on its maiden flight last summer. I had a Saito 72 in it then. Put that engine in my Twist and a Tower 60 back in the Telemaster,as you can hear it change from a 4 stroke to a 2 stroke. Don't have a clue why the joiner gave way, as I've never done anything but putt around in that plane,(thats about all you can do with a Telemaster, big and cumbersome)
Was kinda weird video taping one of my planes piled in for a change, but I was long overdue for a crash.
P.S.....my daughter picked out the Monokote colors......so be nice

Crash:
It was the combination of the RF signal and the siren that did the job on your wing joiner. The video signal, modulated by the audio fron the siren destroyed the molecular bond of the glue joint.
Now. Want to buy a bridge?
Haw.

Thanks for the offer barksKT....but I think I'm done with the Telemasters...
After flying my Giles 202 and UltraSport and Twist, its hard to stay awake while flying a Telemaster.
I put that one together with the thought of having a nice, smooth, slow flying plane to mount the video camera in, but now that my camera is smashed, don't have much use for a plane like that.

You crashed like a rockstar!!! Sucks to lose a plane but I hope that's the closest I ever get to being in a plane that goes down. Now I kind of know what it's like.

RE: Telemaster crash/video
And I HAD a plane like yours, once...of my own design!
Dear CrashPro:
The PIPE here again...and back in the early 1980s I HAD a plane very much like a Telemaster, of my own design, which I called the "Shutterbird", for lofting a compact 35mm film camera within (mostly for the VERY compact-for-that-time Pentax MX, to have been used with an autowinder)...and I never got a chance to try a camera within its massive, cavernous fuselage, because, thanks to a DEFECTIVE Royal Mini Titan servo in it...used for such things as a load drop just for fun...
...the poor thing locked up on ALL channels and became a "ShAtter-Bird" from the horrible CRASH it had...!
Luckily, I STILL have the HAND DRAWN plans, "somewhere", I did so long ago for it...I might still build another one...and thankfully, those TROUBLESOME Royal Mini Titan servos HAVE now been off the market for over two decades!!!
Those plans are WORTH converting to CAD sometime this winter...that "Shutterbird" plane of mine even had lengthwise epoxy fiberglass composite HINGES that I had designed, atop the wing center section, to allow the wings to fold while it was stored at home, so it was MEANT to have a folding wing set for easier transportation, with STEEL BOLTS underneath the wing's center section (and in the hinge's leaves for a pivot point) to hold everything together!
It NEVER would have had the sad problem your Sr. Telly did...and I PREFER slower (and more RELAXING) types of RC aircraft...four strokin' all the way (got rid of ALL my two stroke mills in 1985, and have never looked back), with "knobby" single stick radios I've built myself for flying, and enjoying myself the whole time...
...now to find the TIME to CAD up the Shutterbird plans over this winter, for four stroke power as in a Saito 91 or 100...
...and this is VERY SPOOKY...while finishing up the writing of this reply, I just FOUND my Shutterbird's fuselage and tail plans in the basement...soon it might be time to fire up DesignCAD !!!
Yours Sincerely,
The PIPE!

RE: Telemaster crash/video
WOW, THAT WAS AWESOME!!
Now, if you didn't have that siren, it wouldn't have been as good. I'm sorry for that, and as Flyboy Dave said they have an expiration date. Just like milk, you don't know when it's going to go out, but when it does, it really stinks....(I know, that was really stupid)
It was a pretty, pretty princess!! I have a fellow in my club that is building a plane for his daughter (even though she can't fly, think she's going to learn) and it's going to be all pink, and have a Barbie head for he pilot. But I was thinking, she wouldn't have legs to control the rudder!!)
