Default bye bye funtana 90

Hi there fellow modelers.
I though I needed to share our story of a FUNtana that became a SADtana in 3 seconds.
I went flying with my mate Alf (a very experienced pilot). As he was really poking holes in the sky, I grabbed my vid cam that was lying in the car.
He made some hair-raising passes and as he turned around for a final Grand Finale knife edge, the plane stopped responding to any commands.
The plane carried on its doomed flight and disappeared behind large trees.
We went on a tracking mission and eventually found her about a mile upstream on the other side of the banking, sinking slowly in the freezing waters of the Vaal River.
While we were looking for a canoe or small boat to rescue the sinking Funtana a very brave young man offered to go in with a life jacket and be the big hero.
We still don't know what caused the radio/battery failure but I'm sure you all would agree that, considering that the wing was nowhere to be found, a rebuild or attempts to fix her would have been pointless.
Well I guess that's one less Funtana 90 on mother earth.
(PS, would you guys be so kind to offer an encouraging word to Alf since he has not been to the field since the tragic day (about 2 months ago)
Keep on flying!!!!

Alf - Planes were meant to be flown. You can't just let them sit in the hangar forever!!! If the radio went dead, there's nada you could do about it anyway, unless the battery went flat, or you had interference.

From looking at the pics, at least you didn't catch the field on fire like the last guy did!

cwcloete, if you had built the plane yourself (instead of going arf), i think you had jumped into that mud pool without hesitating!!
I have repaired planes that has looked a lot worse than that..

"why do i do after a crash? - smile! cause now i got a excuse for getting a new/nicer model"
