don't ca=epoxy this is a high stress area and ca is brittle and won't do the job even plain wood glue is better.

The way I see things, plain old white wood glue is ALWAYS better, providing you're glueing wood to wood, have some time to spare (read: patience) and you're not handeling a high stress area.
It can be used for high stress applications if you can apply enough force on the parts to be glued. When glued under pressure it will produce a glue joint at least as strong as a good epoxy joint, most of the times even stronger.
It is CHEAP.
I've used CA for years, but I'm gradually switching back to white glue nowadays. It is good stuff...

Rude boy:
Try Pica "Glu-it" for an excellent aliphatic/white glue. And it doesn't require as much patience as Tite-Bond - it really dries fast. Elmer's? Forget it, it's not even waterproof.
Still haven't heard anyone say anything about the Ultra Stick 120. Hasn't anyone else put one together?
Just put a strong rocket in the tail,
. without a wing it still goes straight as a rail!
Bill.

Thanks for scaring the zip out of me !!! I use my stick hard and
throw it around a lot.. I will check for loose dowels from now on.
Maybe this will save a plane ... Good luck .

Bill, on the US 120 the nylon bolts work fine. They also have the advantage of not backing out like metal bolts do.
On my US60 the dowels got loose in the wing so I used the metal tubing over the dowel trick mentioned on another thread. Stoppe dhte wing from getting loose.

BentGear:
Thanks for the response in re the nylon screws.
But think about it. A 15 pound airplane pulling 15G in a Lomcevak (I enjoy them) has an effective weight of 255 pounds. That's 56.25 pounds on each of those dinky little plastic refugees from a woman's legs (Nylon hose) and I'll stick with my stainless screws.
Not No Way I'll pull fifteen G's, you say. Maybe not, but I had a fuel tank break loose and slam forward hard enough to stick an engine mount screw through the FRONT of the tank. You tell me how many G's that took. Didn't find it until refuelling for the next flight, fuel came out the bottom of the airplane.
Experiences of this sort make me inspect carefully, and worry about possible weak points.
When you do a Lomcevak,
. Your front tends to come out the back.

Bill, the stress can get high. Its just that the fuse sides and mount will let go before the nylon bolts do. Now if you are talking right angle shear strength, then I have to agree somewhat, but, with the front and rear of the wing being captured somewhat by the fuse the chances of the bolts being sheared off only come about when the plane hits something solid, and then the lack of shear strength would be a good thing.
Thanks for making me think about it.
