Default A tree at our field has a Tiger by the tail....literally.

Hard to tell from this photo, but she's about 50 feet up. The wing separated and came down on it's own a few days later (servos and extensions intact). But the fuse is still up there, with the last of my good receivers and a few more servos too. Not to mention a really nice-running OS 46FX (still hanging by the throttle linkage). That was my last flyable glow plane (I got almost two seasons out of it, and it flew a lot, so I guess I got to the expiration date faster than expected).

Oh....and it's up there because I dumb thumbed it there. The plane was a dream to fly, easy as pie to land, and will be missed. Now I'm down to my Great Planes Siren. <sigh>

My condolences. I hope she comes home soon. I know what you mean about the T2's flight characteristics. I just increased the control throws on mine and am having a ball with it.

I find a shotgun with close group shot is the best method of retrieval

I have used a 22 rifel with a scope to cut the braches before. That worked pretty well.

I totally agree! 12 ga with an extra full choke is ok at short ranges, but I've had over 7 perfect retrievals with the 22. works every time!

Think you'd need more than a .22 to get this puppy out of the tree though

Not at all. Piece of cake if the limbs are about 6" or less. Bigger than that I'd just go for a bigger gun, or bring more ammo. If you were a little closer to me I'd get it out for ya no problem. I've had lots of luck with that.
The biggest problem I've had is finding a line that it's safe to shoot. When you're aiming close to a 45^ angle the bullets will go a long ways! It'd suck to rain lead on somebody on the account of a plane (even though it is a nice one). If you're in a safe area to shoot and have good aim it's an extremely effective way to get it out, and no damage to the plane if it falls out well. Better if you have someone to play catch.
If it were my plane it would be coming out! I'd teach that tree for catching my plane!!

OOPS! Browser didn't load that picture for some reason until now...

Yeah, you might be on your own with that one! Chainsaw city!
....and I'm not playing catch!
