How to rebuild foam core wing?
Hi,
I'm in the process of rebuilding a Arco Master 40-46 size pattern plane. Motor die'd at the end of our runway, down wind and couldn't get it turned back into the wind to make a nice landing, our airfield has a lot of trees around and wouldn't you know it my wing found the only sappling in the tall grass at the end of the runway.....[:@]
I haven't worked with foam core wings this much on rebuilding, and was wondering if any one would have any input on the best way to rebuild a foam core wing. It was broke in half on the right wing. I have started by glueing the wing half back together (I had several peices to glue back together) and it looks good as far as being staight and no twist. Now the question is what to do with it at this point, it feels very strong but don't know if I should glass the break "Line's" or do something easier. It is a painted balsa sheeted wing and I don't want to keep adding weight to it to make it anymore heavier. I'm still going to have to sand and blend the paint back down to make it paintable again so I'm not sure what would be a good fix at this point.
Looking for some input on a good way to save the wing, I have retracts in it too, if that will make any differents.

Your glue joint should be stronger then the foam around it. Just re sheet the wing, so that good balsa bridges the break and you should be OK.
