This is what an Extra300 XS looks like when the engine and firewall come popping out at full throttle while being held on the ground.

That is nuts. Must have some power in there. Just be thankful that didn't happen in the air, there would be more than a firewall to fix. The same type of thing happened to my Hobbico extra in a crash. I fixed it and I would say that it is stronger than factory. It also had the same construction as yours (rested up against triangle stock. What I did is took some 3/8 square dowels, and with the firewall in, cut them to size so they would also rest against the firewall. I cleaned up any dried epoxy, and then re-inforced the firewall box that the engine is on. Then just epoxy the living crap out of it. You will want to use plenty of epoxy, especially with aerobatic planes. Good luck.
Also, to make sure it was in there, I grabbed the engine when it was on there and picked the plane up and twisted, torqued, etc on it.

ouch.... could have been worse. At least it's a clean break and will be easy to fix. Just out of coursity, did you fiberglass or carbon fiber the firewall to the rest of the plane?

That would be the one. As you can see, the engine, mount, and firewall are all still connected together. At about 7000+ rpm it all came loose and reached out and touched me. Just got back from the doc's office and he said it's ok. Will take stitches out next week. Working on a plastic extension for thumb so I can grab elevator stick.
Going to do some major reworking to firewall and fuselage and install a smaller engine. May have just gone a tiny bit overboard with the G-38. It really rips though. Puts out way more than I expected it to. Had a 20" APC prop on it when it went haywire.

Right! It's a SIG Extra300XS ARF. Having been out of flying and building for some years I foolishly assumed that the kit was of sufficient quality and strength to withstand about anything.
BOY, did I ever get a wake up call. You only gotta hit me in the head with a brick once. I'm not giving up on ARF's but I have established some new poilcies about them for the future.

Working on a plastic extension for thumb so I can grab elevator stick.

Didn't lose all of it, just down to below the nail bed. Still have first knuckle bit the whole thing looks like a shovel now, kinda flat and wide. What the prop didn't take off the plastic surgeon did.
Got a picture if you wanta see it. Not reccommended!

Now you see why I changed my handle to Lefty.
The doc gave me lots of good drugs but don't need them too much now. The best part was when he did the conscious sedation thingie and I watched him trim the bone end off even with some really ugly huge nippers. Then then sewing started, 100 or so stitches later I look like a bad attempt at sewing up bomb damage.
I can still use my forefinger ok although it's a little stiff but the thumb is real tight when I try to move it. It will probably take about a year to get loose enough to use.
It's only about an inch shorter than the other one is. Not too bad.

Thanks to all the people who have responded to my unfortunate incident with my G-38 thumb processor. Think I'll rename the plane the MeatWhacker.
Maybe I can get a graphic done and put it on the wing.

Somewhere around 100 stitches inside and out.
Just tell your dad to NEVER get in front of or beside the engine when it is running. ALWAYS stay BEHIND the prop for tuning or taching.

You should send that picture along with a description to sig. I wouldn't sue them just because of how many ridiculous cases, but you know you could, right Anyway, just send them a pic and see if they opt to send you a "gift basket" of airplane goodies. lol mabye you will get lucky. Hope you get well.
