Default What happens when you skip the preflight.

During a full day at the field flying I took a break in the heat of the day.

Upon returning I found my plane somewhat unavailable for a decent preflight.

But I went ahead and flew anyway. I was really burning to fly my big plane with the ST-3000 engine and really tear up the skies!!!

Default What happens when you skip a preflight.

So there I was inverted over the outer marker, my medals hanging in my face, er ah ah that's another story.

I started up and headed out to the runway and gobbed the throttle, she accelerated nicely and rotated very clean. Up up she goes. But wait, my shareware computer radio is beeping. I look at the screen and this is what I see.

Default You know, flight control checks are part of a good preflight.

Before I could get rid of the message my plane rolled to the left very close to the ground, I added left aileron. I added more left aileron. I added even more left aileron. Did I mention that a flight control check is part of a good preflight?

So in she goes, I did however manage to bring the throttle to idle while she was inverted and inches from the ground.

Default Even factory test pilots have been killed from reversed ailerons.

I had plenty of help retrieving the parts of my plane from the other side of the runway, since the whole club was present to see the crash!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course I was the only one flying at the time too!!!

More of the damage.

The cat picture was sent to me, I have never had the pleasure of such exotic flying. Just the boring trips between nice paved airports with nice terminals and air conditioning.

The plane is now rebuilt and flying again.

Looks as if the pilot made it, saw him still smiling in the cockpit.

I said it would never happen to me. WRONG! Had my ailerons reversed ! Great takeoff , started a roll right, corrected left and snapped it hard right into the turf ! THE END!
