SOOOOOO Frustrated with this plane!!
I have a fliton extra 330, that is supposed to be a great flying plane. Well, I only flew it a couple times before the engine box broke off the firewall. I had already reinforced it with tristock and epoxy.
It backfired, rolled back and the prop hit the ground and must have broke it free of the firewall. Is this normal! ??? It barely moved. Just made a pop noise and chipped off 1/2" of prop
Anyway - here's some images of what's happened ... the tabs broke off the inside of the firewall (at the bottom) and the bottom of the engine box is broken free of the firewall. The top of the firewall has flex in it like the wood is soft now??
Thanks for any help
Tim

The "Backfire".....sounds like you're running a 4 stroker. If so, you probably have the setting too lean.
Running it richer will solve that problem, but the weak motor box.....sorry, you're on your own with that one. Sorry[]

[X(][X(][X(]Yes it's repairable. I'd use Loctite Hysol 9462 Epoxy. Have about 3 Hours of Work Time and it Fully cured after 24 Hour that can even Drill & Tap it. No heavier other Epoxies But Allot Stronger[:@][:@][:@]. What all RC Jets are Built with. [&:][&:][&:] You can Beef Box Up with Thin Model Airplane Ply Wood. Probable 1/8th inch put on Hysol and Few Servo Screws Hold in Place while it cures. Want Beef it Up because of 4 Stoker's Torque and vibration. Doesn't take as much as 30 minute epoxy. [:-][:-][:-]Talk John Dunlap at Troybuilt Models down in Florida. He turned Me on Hysol use in My Gassers to Beef Motor Boxs and Other Areas in Fuselage. Allot Planes are litely built and need some modifications for 4 Stroke or Gas Engines. Here's 2 we just did this too. CMP Models with 40cc and 50cc Gas Engines. Threw out Cheap Hardware and got all Good stuff from John at Troybuilt Talk John and check out Power HD Servos. I Love Digital 224 oz torque in 9150 servos for $33.80 a pop. Your Fliton's a easy repair and I have one with Tower 61 Engine on mine. richgrow
