And they say insomnia is a bad thing!
Couldn't sleep, and due to a wrong order of lights I decided to mod my Hobbico Superstar 40. So I gave it some "bling". what do ya think?
I added:
Landing light
Port/Starboard navigation lights
Tail Strobe

I like it. When I get insomnia I usually go out in the garage and do some painting on one of my planes. My last insomnia moment My new Escapade got some metallic silver trim work and cockpit window tinting.
Lights may be the next item for one of my planes.
How did you go about doing it?

My insomnia comes from brain cells fighting eachother at the flying field, hence the poor flight performances this year. Needless to say, I stay up late at night repairing planes that could have been saved from destruction, but I was an idiot at the moment. O-well, at this rate, I may sleep sometime in october.

I ordered these lights from http://flightlights.net/index.htm and when they arived I saw that they were the wrong ones, they were way to small for my other plane. So after talking to the guy that makes the lights and getting the right lights I had the old set laying around. the guy good great care of the issue. made me a custom set for the other plane and had it shipped within days. I will use them again.
First I got some covering patch in black and white. it comes in sheets and is a peel and stick job, i got mine from hobbytownUSA.
Drilled holes for the lights around where I wanted them.
Ran the lights down the fuse, and used the patch to cover the wires(I used old speaker wire ran it up the inside of the fuse and taped the light to it, that way i could pull the light down though the fuse.
used 2 part epoxy and covered the lights, that way the lights are protected
Its hard to see, but you can make out the patch covering the wires.
