Default Help me rebuild! First crash of the year...

Hello!

So, I had my Electrostik out today, it was BEAUTIFUL! I was doing my normal flying, loops, rolls.. nothing fancy. Coming out of a loop however, my rudder failed!!! Head first, my plane cratered into the ground. My co-workers, who had come to spectate, stood silently with horrified looks on their face. I think they expected me to be mad, but I wasn't. This is a great opportunity to build me a new plane! After 30+ flights on the Stik, I feel that I got a good amount of use out of it, but I do wish that it would have lasted the season (don't we all).

In any case, I've been looking to move into a good acrobatic plane, like a Yak, Cap, or Extra. Something I can 3d with. I'm hoping you guys can suggest to me a good plane that will recieve the engine from my Stik and do well with it. The engine is a 40-42-1000 Rimfire. I have a 45A ESC, and 5 HiTec Micro servos available. Unfortunately, I love my battery in the crash, but it was a 3 cell. I believe the engine could handle a 4 cell battery provided I dont overdo it on the throttle.

So what do you recommend? I was thinking an acro plane in the 45" wingspan range would probably work just fine. Help me recover from my accident with your suggestions and I'll be sure to post pics and videos!

I've never heard of rudder failure causing a crash... I've also never heard anyone say 30+ flights on a plane is a good amount of use, that's just a couple weekends!

Yeah I would have to agree with mjfrederick. Unless the rudder got stuck in an extreme position, like 60 degrees + to either side, or doing a knife edge 12 inches from the ground, I can't see how a rudder failure could cause a crash. Please explain that one to us.

Maybe I'm slow but 30+ flights is just about the time I'm really lovin my plane. Hell if it's under 30 I would consider it still to be new...

I'm assuming he meant elevator and typed rudder. I made a similar error a couple nights ago and caught it.

I also think it's a positive he's not totally bummed out. I was talking to a guy the other day that quit after destroying three airplanes. Three airplanes is nothing LOL.

Pick a nice sport plane for now. And for crying out loud, try to get into glow.

Rebuild and fly it again! Too many folks put their craft on the curb before their time.
