a story of an airplane
I'm attracted by the look of the Cessna 182 skyline and the way it flies and lands. So I started to build a giant scale model of my own. And after 6 months of work, the model is ready to fly; I really enjoyed building it and the look of it when it is finished.
The video shows some pictuers of the model during building and the first attempt when the engine failed to take it up, And the second flight after the engine is replaced with a MVVS 58.
I had everything prepared and tested ,but things didn't go well , first the lead weight fell from the firewall where it was epoxyed just before taking off, and the changing of the wend speed ,made the flight more difficult to control.
I'm working now in another copy of this model and hope this time take off and lands safely.
The plan I used is Hostetler's plan, and the Engine was MVVS58,the total is weighs about 22kg.

What a great job of building. All undone by a bit of lead falling off.
I'm sure the next one will be even better than the first.
Keep building!

That is a shame. I have built more than one plane that needed a large block of lead up front, its always good to bolt it through the firewall just to be sure. The engine vibration can really shake loose a big piece of lead...

Nice video too, but a sad ending.

that was a beutiful model, and it is a shame it went in due to the lead dropping out. hope your second one turns out just as nice if not better as you definatly have the building skills. hope the second one goes allot smoother,

Sorry about your loss! It was a great looking plane. You can purchase lead sheets that are great for screwing to the firewall or inside the cowling. I hope most of the parts were ok?

This is rediculous. Shift some weight. Move a servo, battery pack or get a bigger engine. Adding useless weight to the nose of a plane is just a waste. Sometimes tail weight can't be avoided but nose weight...
Just concider making the weight of your plane work for you.

Thats a shame - a really fantastic model! []
It makes me realise that getting upset over a minor crash with a 40 sized ARF is just not worth it!
