Default 4 Channel FMS Skyline 182 - 55" Trainer reciever

Does anyone know if I can take out the current FM 4 ch reciever and put in a 5 ch spektrum reciever? I think I can just need some assurance! http://www.nitroplanes.com/4chrtffmssky.html

I replaced mine with the Spektrum AR6000. All the ports are labeled. Just make sure you re-program the ESC's throttle limits if you are changing the transmitter. Also, on my Sky Trainer, the I needed to reverse the rudder.

How do I reprogram the throttle ESC? I have only flown glow motors and this is my first electric. I am also going to upgrade the battery as well, any suggestions? Thank you so much!

Check out the forum thread AFF or RTF under nitroplanes support. I posted a PDF there on programming the ESC that I got from FMSmodel.com. I'd attach it here but I'm not home. Also, look at Hobbyking.com for batteries. They have Turnigey and Zippy 3S 2200 MAH for between $9.99 and $11.99. I have 3 of them and they work great. Shipping takes about 2 weeks from China and I live in CA. But your can get 5 of these for the price of one here in the states...

GLS990,

Although this is my first 4 ch plane, I still think it's a great deal. With about $5 in parts from your LHS and about an hour of your time, this plane is un-beatable. It really does fly very well!! The nose wheel is easily fixed, especially if you are just beginning the build. Granted, I'm a newbie, but I try to post all my mods and, even more importantly, all my newbie mistakes. There are others doing the same on the other thread. If you look at the posts and develope a kind of a biuld checklist, this plane is a snap to get flying...

Feel free to contact me with any questions,

Jack

Angel03,

Banana Hobby has it, but they are charging an outrageous $250 for it w/2.4ghz radio... You may want to contact them and maybe work a late Black Friday deal or have them pull the radio out.. I don'y know if they'd do this, but it's post Xmas season and they may be willing. Worth a try.. Also, maybe contact the makers FMSmodel.com, they've been very responsive to my emails and may be able to help. This is a great plane but needs a little tweaking.

Good luck

Angel03, I called Nitromodels a month prior to Thanksgiving and they related it would be a month. All of a sudden Nitromodels had EVERY plane in stock. So you may want to send an email or call them and check on them restocking time. Good Luck. And NOWIRES THANK YOU. I will let you know I make out. Thanks again!

recevied mine the other day, finally got a chance to put it together and itsa awsome plane, although i have not put it in the air as of yet, i have had a problem with front gear. but i no what the problem is and i will fix it tomorrow morning. it was very simple to put together and a great value for the Dollar. I live here in Tennesse N.E and i have a small public airport not far from me to fly it. you all have a great night, and talk to you soon.

Hello everyone,

I am thinking about picking up the 55" Trainer RTF. I came upon your forum through a search engine because I'm trying to get some feedback on what you think. Nitroplanes.com has it for $139.00. Is this a good plane? What are the issues with the front gear you are referring to? Can I fly it without the gear and just do belly landings? Is Nitroplanes good to deal with? I've read reviews about them that are either all good, or all bad. Any info you guys can give on my questions is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Nolan

I changed the receiver to my spectrum 5 ch, put a longer set screw on the front landing gear, took off the rear skirts and fastened tires with collars. Plane fly's great and proud to fly it. If I can do anything to help let me know.

Regards
Paul
