Speedie,
Thanks for the plug.
As you can see, I made four of them. Two are free and the other two are 500.00.
Just kidding for sure.
I'm sending all four. Maybe you have room on your flight box?
Charles

RE: Deuces Wild crash and rebuild
At last! All of the repairs are done!! I just finished the main wing and left wingtip repairs, so that means I can start reassembling it!!! Not sure if I can get it ready in time to fly it tomorrow, might have to wait until next weekend.
Here's some pics of the final repairs. I'll post pics after I get it completely assembled.

Well, I received the decals from Charles at CFC graphics, and terrific job Charles!!!!! They look just like the originals, and very high quality. I will post some pics as soon as I get them on the plane.
Thanks again Charles, I really appreciate it! I recommend anyone that needs decals, to give CFC graphics a call, I sure will.

IT FLIES!!!!! I took the DW up for 3 flights today, and it flew great . I'm so glad to have it back up, it's probably my favorite plane right now.
Thanks to those of you that followed this thread and gave your advice, I really appreciate it.
Also, a big thanks to Charles from CFC Graphics for making the decals for me, they look fantastic! I will post some pics of the completed plane as soon as I take some.
Fall and Bear, I want to see some pics of those B25's!!!!!

Speedy,
Congrats on the re-maiden. Nothing like getting a broken plane back in the air. Glad your DW is flying well.
As for the B-25... you mean you really want me to get the fuselage out of the closet, mount the wing, and then start thinking about how I'm gonna get the gear doors to work and where I have to put all the stuff in the fuselage? And then take pictures? That sounds like work...
OK, I'll get things sorted out and post some pix.
Fred

RE: Deuces Wild crash and rebuild
Nice work Fred, I am going to have to figure out a way to get one of those!!! Finances are kinda tight right now, as i'm putting the wife through school, but i'm going to have to try to save a little extra dough........
I would also love to build a B17. The sound of 4 EP props cutting through the air would sound pretty cool (sorry, i'm a diehard electric power fanatic).
Please keep us posted on the build.

RE: Deuces Wild crash and rebuild
Will do.
I'm not sure which direction I'd go if I were starting from square one today. The H9 and TF B-25 ARF's both seem to have no bad quirks, and you can probably get either of them in the air with 30 to 40 hours of work. I'll probably have as much (or more?) $$$ invested in the Wing kit by the time I get done painting it, to say nothing of the building time.
One of the reasons I've been procrastinating on the build is figuring out which engines to use. I've got a pair of Magnum 70 4S's that I thought would power the Mitchell, but there's been a series of break-in/low power/dead stick problems with them, and I've gotten to the point where while both engines run OK, I just don't trust them enough to put 'em in a big twin. If money wasn't a consideration, I'd probably buya pair of Saito 80 4S's, but $600 puts a real crimp in the budget. If I go electric via the Hobbycity route, the cost comes down, but I'm not sure how I cool the motors/batteries without cutting some real ugly holes in the nacelles. (I already figured out the simple solution to that is to build it without operating gear doors, and just exhaust the hot air through the wheel wells. Not an artistic solution [&o]). The third alternative might be a pair of Magnum 52 2S's. Not too hard on the budget, and while they won't sound like radials, a pair of synch'd two-strokes has it's own appeal.
I just can't seem to get a grip on a B-25 flying by with a pair of whispering electrics! WWII warbirds are suppossed to rumble and growl, not sneak up on you!

RE: Deuces Wild crash and rebuild
Yeah, I can relate to that, but the sound of two counter-rotating props whizzing by on a high speed pass has it's own appeal!! You don't get to hear that when you run fuel engines, the exhaust drowns out the sound of the props.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against fuel engines, I started on Nitro powerd RC a loooong time ago, and loved it. But now, I'm a Driveability Tech for Ford, and have to deal with tuning and driveability issues all day long. The last thing I want to do when I go out to fly and have fun, is to have to tune another engine!!!!![:'(]
Sometimes I kinda get an itch to maybe build another fuel powered bird, but as soon as I get to the airfield and see alll of the guys messing with their engines for an hour or two, only to get in one flight before either a dead stick, or some other problem, and i'm reminded why I love my electrics so much.[sm=lol.gif]
Here in Colorado, the temperature can have over a 40 degree swing from morning to noon, and at this altitude, it plays hell with the tuning. I do still have a Nitro powered 4X4 truck, and I love it, but all of my aircraft are electric now.
I'm not one of those 'my way is better than your way' guys, I love all types of planes, no matter how they're powered. I just prefer EP now. Someone should come up with a noise generator that could simulate the sound of a fuel engine for electrics!!!! Heheeee

RE: Deuces Wild crash and rebuild
I hear you on the appeal of electrics... I love my miniShowtime, and being able to connect power, go fly, disconnect, and put the thing back in the car is really nice. No tuning, no running lean, and no exhaust residue. Lots of the glow flyers at our field have commented on how smooth it is, all due to electric power.
I'm about two clicks away from ordering one of the OV-1 Mohawk kits from Keith Sparks... since it's a turbo prop, those counterrotating props would sound pretty good on it.
