Default Forgetting wing bolts= Crash

The day had been going well. My instructor/ buddies uncle maidened my new twinstar. Well we lost the left wheel off the landing tgear shortly after takeoff, he banked downwind and lost one engine good thing is he recovered. Fortunatly got her back on the ground without breaking anything. I got the nerves to calm down flying my trainer on steroids and went to fly my J3 cub. While attaching wing struts I noticed the engine mounts needed to be tightened. I removed the cowl, tightened the mounts, put everything back together , fired the engine and proceded to take off. Five feet off the ground she snap rolled and slammed into the ground nose first. It destroyed the firewall, cowl, and pretty much everything up to the servo tray.

Good thing is I just finished putting the twinstar together so I was needing a project. Now I have one. Pictures to come soon. Any suggestions for the rebuild would be appreciated.

Forgot to add. Don't forget to check the wing bolts prior to take off.

Without pics of the fuse it's tuff to advise on a rebuild strategy.

Your 1st post said you lost a wheel. I'm not familiar with the particulars of the Twinstar's LG. If the LG has a collar to keep the wheel on the axle, a short piece of fuel tubing pushed over the end of the axle will help keep the collar and wheel on the axle even if you lose the collar's set screw.

Hey guys. I am new to the thread. I can say I have had my share of rebuilding one after a bad crash. It's like a jig saw puzzle . Where dose this small piece go? Could take hours even day's to get it back together. Not something I would want to do. Would rather build a new one lot easer. But in some cases not so much. Good luck.

I didn't forget the wing bolts I just didn't tighten em all the way. Just loose enough to permit the wing to slide back so the leading edge pin pulled from the fuse. The wing didn't have a scratch, but it took several minutes to dig the engine out of the ground. Yeah I need engine parts.

A new fuse is being painted now. this Kaos will live forever!
