Default About to Crash.....Photos

I was at the field yesterday and saw a plane going around the pattern in obvious distress....Looked like too much aileron throw as it was rocking from side to side. I was already taking pictures around the field so I got ready. Here is one of my photos which gave me an idea for a thread... The "About to Crash" photo thread. Post what you have!

I like the idea! However, those are rare photos because they are so hard to get.

That is a good shot. I am surprised the elev is centered. You would have thought he would be pulling back hard.

Sorry, missed the after shot. Didn't really want to go over there an "kick him in the ribs" with the carnage photos.

Well, as it was, I didn't have anything to contribute to this thread...until today.
Bit of a story behind this one. Matt Hall during Q1 at the Windsor Red Bull Air Race today. I spent the day on the Detroit side.

Well I had the perfect photo for you but I deleted it. My dad got a photo of my sig hog going straight into a big tree trunk after radio problems. it was about 1 inch away from the tree in the photo, and I could already count how many pieces I had to go pick up, that took a whole trash can. I built a new one though and flies great now.

I know this isn't what the thread implies but the Matt Hall video is one great save of a full scale (rare video)... now why did he get himself into this position.

Near crash right at the one minute mark.

In his own words:

This is where I made my grave mistake. Rather than taking the aircraft to its limit and seeing if it had enough turn potential to get around the corner, I looked at where I wanted to go and tried to force the aircraft to that point.

Here is a better video on the full scale near catastrophe. If I were the pilot I would thank God then fly only R/C model airplanes. http://www.redbullairrace.com/cs/Sat...ality=standard

As interesting as I find all this, we SHOULD probably return this thread to its original subject.

We're doing a bit of discussion of this particular incident over here:
