Mirage to the Mighty Saab 37 Viggen
It all started with a Mirage From FlyFly models. I bought her from Hobbyking, and started to build her on New year 2009. Everything went well, and the day for the maiden started to come closer and closer. Ok our normal field that we are flying from is a short grassfield, and I felt that it was a little bit to small to start this pretty big EDF from, so me and my friend decided to start the Mirage from what we thought was a bigger field, in fact it is an old airforce field near Stockholm in Sweden. Our misstake was when we didnt launch our 2 Mirage from the real field, we decided to start them from a place near by instead. At that point we were not members at the club that flies from the big field. To make a long story very short, I took of with the Mirage and everything went ok until it was time for the landing. I missed that I had a big Fence behind me, and of course the Mirage ran into it, which resulted in a broken Mirage. At that I had two choices1. put her on fire, 2. Rebuild the pieces.I decided to rebuilt her as The swedish J37 Viggen. I did it for two reasons, 1 You cant buy the ModelViggen anywhere today, because the 37 is not famous enough. 2 The meassures from the Mirage i very simulair to The Viggen. I took the pieces from the Mirage, and started to cut an glue. You can see the result on the pics. She is not 100% as the original Viggen, so from now on I call her the Hybridos. Hope you like the pics. You can see that she starts as a Mirage, and ends up as the Viggen (Hybridos). She has been painted in two versions, the last cammoversionis theone that almost looks like the original. The reason why the J37 Viggen is not so famous, is because we didnt sell here to anyforeign countries, but the Mighty J37 Viggen is best looking jetthat SAAB has ever produced.

RE: Mirage to the Mighty Saab 37 Viggen
In this clothes, I made the first maiden with th e Mirage. She flied pretty good, but the pilot ( my self) made a few misstakes when it was time for landing. Nothing serious happend, but when I looked at her I decided to try to make her look even more like the originalViggenthan the Hybridos. 1. I had to make the noose shorter, In this stage she looked more like the Mirage.2. I had to make the back into the tailwing a little bit higher. When the maiden was done, I also decided to put on a pair of servoless retracts. I also decided to try to paint the Cammo in a more original version.

When I decided to make the version 2 paint job, I also decided to pu on some epoxy on the body without putting glassfibre on her. It went pretty well, and I know that this is not by the book, but what I wanted was to create a stronger body to paint on, and not a stronger body to crash with. We must remeber that she is a EPPfoamie from the beginning, and the EPPcan be hard to paint, because it will melt if You don use the right paint. Here are the pics until todays date. I will put in more pics if the maiden number 2 goes as I hope. Also thanks for looking.
