I cant help but say I told you so! Last week me and my buddy were out flying, he had made several flights one after another with his GP Cherokee, I had told him hey you need to check your battery and his responce was its a lipo battery im good for the day! It wasnt 20 mins later hes screaming "IVE LOST IT! IVE LOST IT! I DONT HAVE CONTROL OF IT! I wasnt flying and all I could do was watch it go over and past the treeline some 3-4 hundred yards away. The look on his face was priceless and all I could think about was " Its a lipo its good all day" I so badlly wanted to say I told you so!

Pick up all the pieces and put them in a bag.

Open a bottle of thin CA, toss it in the bag...shake it up, and it should be all better!!!:D:D:D

Video of that impact would have been pretty. There would have been colors flying all over the place.

Some people have to learn the hard way. I guess you buddy has learnt something. Does he realise it was his failure to check the battery that more than likely contributed to this?

What radio? :)

That is an ugly crash. Recently at our field a wing was lost with the result of a broken carb... the engine case was split open at the carb. The receiver case was crumbled with all pins flattened over. Two of the servos had their cases broken. The wires were ripped from the switch harness. The tank was split. The only thing that survived from the fuselage was the muffler somehow survived as well as the gear struts looked usable again. Of course the wing flip flopped down with little damage.

Wow,,
Not funny, but a expensive leason.

Just curious, what size mah battery does your buddy think an "Go All Day" Lipo is?

There are only so many amps in a pack whether it 4.8 or 7.2

RE: try to rebuild this!!

It was byfar the worst crash ive ever seen, it broke the engine case, carb all the servos and receiver, total loss! I wished we could have seen it, but it went down behind the treeline, I allso wished we could have heard it too.

It looks like you flared a little late on landing:D

I had Citabria that I put into an inverted flat spin that I did not recover from that crashed and looked a lot like that plane, same colors also.[:o]

Sincerely, Richard

I also wished we could have heard it too.
Maybe that's the answer to the age old question "if a tree falls in the woods and there is nobody to hear it, is there any noise??"

Nothing like crash as this to learn a hard lesson.

RE: try to rebuild this!!

There is actually a serious part to this.
Luckily in this instance, the guy learnt a costly lesson. But imagine if the plane had not crashed so early. I am not familiar with the particular field and there may wel be nothing close to it but there are plenty of fields around where houses and other recreational areas are nearby.
The force of this particular crash was enough to destroy pretty much all components. Luckily there were no people or property in the way when it made its final "landing".

Still would'a been spectacular to see though ;)

Yes your right it could have killed someone, or done some major damage if it hit something, infact it landed about 7 feet from an old wellhouse that was on private property.

I have probably a half dozen tail sections (Eagle 63, Nexstar, Alpha 60, Big Bird, RCM 40 and 60 trainer), and several sets of wings. Make me an offer:D

Be carfule about telling your buddy I told you so. The fikle finger of fate might come after you next. There are only two typs of air planes those that have and those that will. ;)

Ohhh, the carnage! It looks like the wood in my scrap box next to my building table. [X(] Better off getting a new one, not worth a rebuild in my opinion. Take all the blind nuts, screws and anything that's good and keep it for future use for something else. We live, we learn and try not to do it again.

it would be interesting to see a high speed camera closeup of a crash this bad... to see it just slowly compact ,twist, fold and splinter..

that is a mess all right ....

Man you are so right! Ask me how I know, Ive learned the hardway too! I had a guy tell me once that every plane big or small has an experation date, you just cant read it and it exspires when you least espect it too!
