H9 TWIST 60
1 Attachment(s)
I bought it second hand from a guy who was going BIG 100cc 3D planes.
I did not recheck his CG as he stated it was in the limits... well it was AFT over 1.25" tailheavy Shut down the OS 90FX to deadstick it into the tall grass and tore off thelanding gear. Finally I got around to fixing it.. cut out the junk glue tabs for interlock. make a new plate and test fit added tri stock & epoxied a new plate in place. should be good to go this weekend. |

I've had a couple of Twist 40s. If the "60" flies anything close to the 40s, you're in for the time of your life !! They are fun in a strong wind too. Head it into a strong wind & it'll actually fly backwards. With a little practice, you'll be "parking" it not landing !! Good luck & have fun !!

RE: H9 TWIST 60
I love my Twist 60; it has a WCL [wing cube load] of 5.8. This puts it close to the low end of what is available. It is electrified, I use a 6S 5000 battery. This battery is about twice what I need but the Twist 60 tends to come out tail heavy, as you discovered. I needed this 26 oz battery to balance and had to cut a relief pocket in the wing to fit it. Typical 3D planes with gas engines in the 70 -80" range have WCL'saround 9.3. These planes have about the same wing area as the T60.
I have my CG at 5 1/2" which is outside the range 5 7/8 to 6 1/2". It is a real squirrel with the CG aft, I may try moving it back as I get better but can't imagine landing at 6 1/2". The tail will drop, plane will pop and stall and hit hard. You would have to land at a good speed to have a prayer. |
RE: H9 TWIST 60
It was the aft battery location that made it tail heavy.
in fact the builder had 1 1/2 oz lead added to the nose on the inside of the "cheeks". I may get to fly it saturday If theweatyher holds. The CG is at the foward limit with battery moved forward and 3/4 oz of lead out of the nose. |
