this is embarrasing, let me post some pics first:

this is pictures of my 3 planes at the SHARKS field in shreveport, LA. this is before i flew any of the birds. a beautiful overcast saturday morning, the field runway runs north and south, and it was my first time flying here. i was standing on west side of run way, and the sun was in east, however, covered by clouds. so there was no glare, yet!!<br type="_moz" />

i took the plane up and was flying it great.<div>then i had plane pass me and it must have been 100 feet high, when i went to turn it, it rolled excessively and flipped and then it was heading down, i pulled back on elevator, and plane almost made it, if only it was 20 feet higher. this is the view of what happened after wards.</div>

the motor (DA 120) will be sent in for repair.  i have re-ordered the plane from Tower hobbies. and the only other damage was to the 2 Life batteries and 1 servo the metal gears were stripped

I have hundreds of crashes under my belt in my 40 years of RC flying, and have almost always found the reason for the event. Sometimes it took me a few days before I could come to a conclusion. I recall sometimes being depresses until I could decide on a reason. Almost all of my crashes were due to pilot error. Have you found a reason for the crash?

wow, this is amazing. i did the same as you.<span style="font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(251, 252, 255); "> for the past week, i have a hard time sleeping thinking of how this crash occured. it just burns me up. i feel there has been a loss. i am trying to make humor of it, but in reality, it was a big big hit. i feel really stupid that i let this happen. i had flown this plane over 10 times. it was an awesome bird. i loved it's sound as it roared by in a fly by, you can feel the roar of the 120 cc engine. but i was able to figure out today how i crashed it. i could'nt before, due to feeling so emotional, but now i am starting to get over it and my mind is thinking more clearly about the accident. here it is. i was flying the bird in an oval</span>pattern<span style="font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(251, 252, 255); ">, over the flying field. i was the only one flying at the time. i was ocasionally turning on the smoke pump with my left finger. i did some loops and some inverted flights with flybys in that position. then, i was playing the plane from north to south, in line with run way, about 100 feet high, and once plane passed me, maybe by 100 yards, i used the ailerons to roll plane, and using the rudder and elevator, to turn it around, all of a sudden, in a split second, the plane rolled more than 90 degrees, and just like that, it was going straight towards the earth, nose dive, at 100 feet, not much room for error, i then let go of everyhting and pulled back on elevator to recoup, i saw plane was starting to recover, but not enough height. it crashed into earth at about 60 degrees from perpendicular, that explains the scatter as seen on the pictures, but it was probably going 110 MPH. sometimes, i think, if i could only go back in time, and not have done that maneuver! then i would have landed her safely and brought her home again, for another flight another day. anyways, that is life. cant bring her back. what is done is done. i have sent the motor to DA and have sent the batteries to duralite. will let you all know what they say. hope they can be fixed, especially the engine. would hate to have to throw that away.</span>

you don't see very many planes broke down that bad. But it happens.

I know how you feel. I just crashed my 1/3 scale weeks special that took me all summer to build, I didn't let it get enough spped before taking up and she stalled and came down hard, I wish i could buy another one but thats just not going to happen I'm pretty much done now.

I saw a guy last weekend destroy a nice bipe. Just as you typed, he was going fast, low altitude and he crashed. He said that it was just him and nothing else. It happens.

You think She may be a just a littler more vulnerable with a pieced in bulkhead lol?

I think I'm going to get a long drillbit and drill through the main firewall to the second bulkhead where cabane is attached and pin it with a couple 6" long dowels to strengthen it up so the motor can't rip it out again. what do ya think?

I'm really sorry Orthobird for I should have a started my own thread, the only real adavantage to a build up is that when it crashed you'll know exactly how to reconstruct it, but actually I think your pile would be a real headache but heck NASA could do it why not you lol.
