If you have Windows XP Professional as your OS, you can use "Windows Movie Maker." You will also possibly need a program to convert from the format your camera uses to the format for "Movie Maker," and there are free programs out there. One of the best is MP4Cam2AVI. You will find it at http://sourceforge.net/projects/mp4cam2avi/.

If you have trouble, let me know and if you have dsl or cable, I'll send it to you.

Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0

Does everything you'll ever want to do and a bit more.
Might be a bit hard "on the learning curve" but in my humble opinion the most advanced video editing available commercially, and I can say I tried almost all.
Above this, your next option is proffessional studio software, expect to pay the price af a good mid-size car.....

If you want to start with some basic editing, Windows Movie Maker is your best option.

Sony Vegas 7.0 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. But If you have Windows XP then you should have Windows Movie maker. My gf made a dvd movie out of this program.. which eventually got me to get Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere.

I use Adobe Premiere 2
I have been using Adobe Premiere 6.5 /1.5 for the past 4 years and it is really great. What I like about it is that there is so many plug inns you can download for this program. I must admit it is a bit pricy but I am sure there are cracked versions out there

Virtual dub is very good at cleaning up both stills and dv.
I even wrote a utility for creating & running batch jobs.
If i need to do a lot of cutting & pasting I will use something else.

Used U-Lead, I-Film Edit, Adobe Premiere 6, Studio 10, 11 and 12. Have Adobe Eelements, but have put off loading it until I get another PC. Neither Adobe nor Studio play well with others. Studio is a good value, edits well and has a short learning curve. Studio offers fewer video and audio tracks than Premiere, but how many times do you need 11 audio tracks when all you want to do is edit a 2 camera shoot of your latest crash? Adobe and U-Lead had similar learning curves. Heard good things about Vegas, but never tried it. Windows Movie Maker is surprisingly good for a freebie, but it lacks the add-ons that the other programs offer. Editing with cracked software is not prudent if you aspire to be the next George Lucas. Whatever you place in the public eye will be there longer than you will. Better to be legal.

Ok Guys

I could realy use some help.

First my OS is windows XP home and I think I have all of the up dates from m/s, but one of my flying buddys did a vid of my madien on my g/s p-47 with a cannon camcorder, I can play it on the tv, but when I try to run on my pc I get "media player can not play the dvd, as a DVD DECODER is not installed.
Now the question do I need to get a dvd decoder and then windows movie maker.

My need is to be able to edit some of the dvd save what I want and then post the flight.

Thanks in advance

Bob T

Bob T,
Is your camcorder anolog or digital? If it's anolog you will need a device to
covert it to digital.
