Default DTE Hard Drive Recording for AP

If you are recording video on the ground from a wireless downlink, the following is an option to recording to tape, although recording to tape in parallel is a good idea for backup. It is currently only compatible with DV cameras with a 1394 Firewire port which most any late model DV camera already has. These devices are known as DTE or Direct to Edit drives that record up to 6 hours of uncompressed RawDV, AVI Type 1, AVI Type 2, AVI Type 2 24p, Matrox AVI, Canopus AVI, QuickTime or QuickTime 24p. Some models also include Pinnacle AVI, Avid DV-OMF. There are a few different makers of this recording product but one of the most popular is called Firestore. This portable dedicated drive simply connects to your video camera via firewire and records video to a hard disk so there's no load time into your PC!
