Default HD Possible???

Hey guys, I'm new to this... Has anyone attempted to mount an HD camera to the DF? Will the video signal submit an HD signal???? Or does the entire motherboard have to be swapped out???

I hooked up a 10MP camera to the SAVS board
and the results were not that great. The weak link
is the wireless downlink. It won't transmit HD quality
back to you. Your best bet is to record directly to the
HD camera while its in flight.

No issues. The downlink is simply not capable of transmitting
more information that it does now. I think it has to do with
the limitations of the circuitry, video format(NTSC) and the fact that the
data is sent over a wireless link. The video that came back simply
didn't look much better than with the original camera. What I plan
to do is use the SAVS camera as a way to line up the shots I want
but let the good camera record to itself.

Wireless HD does exist but not affordably and not small enough and compatible for the DF. I think DFI tried wireless HD with 802.11 but never released it because like GeoffBrown said, the data stream was just too demanding. Any wireless signal is going to be susceptible to RF hits so on board recording with an HD camera is the best way to retain HD quality while using a live video feed as a framing guide.
