Tank location for FIRE 90
Bob,
I would like to get my tank as close as possible to the airframe CG, but I am concerned about excessive leaning in long verticals, particularly towards the end of a flight with a near empty tank. In my preferred installation, the tank clunk would be about 14" behind the carb. In your experience, is this too far back? FWIW, Dubb set the motor up with df timing and a Macs pipe, 16K rpm on the ground with a 10x10 apc. I anticipate some unloading in the air (but how much remains to be seen), and I intend to set the needle about 500-700 below peak.
Thanks,
Bob R

RE: Tank location for FIRE 90
You should be set up to run pipe pressure.... from a long pipe, this is pretty substantial.
However, 14" draw is a long way, and I would strongly suggest installing a 2 - 4 oz header tank right behind the firewall. This tends to work better than even a pump in some circumstances. This way the engine is only really drawing from the small tank.
Let me know how things work out.
