Ordering a BSE35 & 60LX??
Hi Bob
I am trying to order a BSE 35 and a 60LX
They are to be fitted in a small P51 (1.4kg 1.1m WS) and a size 40 GP Shoestring.
I already made the order for the 35 but asked by email to have the 60 added to the the order.
Maybe you are closed for vacation as I also tryied to phone and no answer.
I also have a queStion about the QM40 SS engine compared to the Q500, what are the differences other than the carb ?
Tnx

QM40 and Q500 engines are very different. Basically the only thing that is the same is the crankcase, threaded prop stud, connecting rod, and head clamp crankshaft, piston, sleeve, muffler, head button are different.

Ok
Got reply from Dub, 35 and 56LX are on order.
Just need to see how it fits in the Shoestring.
And go faster than the SD, at least try to !

RE: Ordering a BSE35 & 60LX??
Hi Bob,
Sad news............the Shoestring is too massive for 10x6 prop.
Aka only an inch is sticking out of the cowl and the fuse is very bulky.
So I went for a 4c..............
And I bought a MagnumR for the 56.
What size of prop can I go down to, like an 8.5x 9 or 8, once the engine is fully broken-in ?
And adding a full lengh tuned pipe ad some RPM ? (has the stock golden SS right now)
Tnx

full pipe might get you a few more rpm, but its probably not worth it. The big pipe will have to be set for a specific rpm and you will have limited prop selection to work with. The only advantage would be if you wanted to go with more prop and a bit lower rpm but i dont think you want to go that way.
Prop on the 56 for the magnum, a 8.8x9 8.8x8.75 Q500 prop works well. The 8.8x9.25 prop works well to, cut it to about 8.25 or 8.5" diameter. Let the engine turn up. Also a stock sport 9x8 cut down to 8" diameter - gives very good launch thrust. Do not run a regular 8" stock prop, the hub size generally is not strong enough for these rpms once the engien unloads.
Key on the prop, is to find one that will allow the engine to turn well over 17,500 ground peak rpm.
