Default Can I charge and use a LiPo battery at the same time? URGENT!!!!

Dear All,

I am using a LiPo battery to power a wind tunnel fan, but the problem is that the battery lasts for only 10 minutes at full power and I need to use the wind tunnel for more than 10 minutes at a time!

It is then possible to charge the LiPo battery at the same time as using it to power the motor, like you charge your depleted latop battery at the same time as using your laptop?

Regards,

Daniel.

Daniel,

For your wind tunnel set-up you need a power supply that can deliver the watts you need.  If you had a set-up that charges while in use, you'd be charging the battreies as fast as they're discharging.  You're better off "eliminating the middle man" so to speak.

It's possible, BUT the charger would need to be able to provide enough current to charge the LiPo and carry the load at the same time.
Lets say that the LiPo charge current is 1 Amp, and the load current is 10 Amps. This makes the current issue rather obvious.
