Hi everyone

When you make a Lipo series - parallel pack do you connect groups of series cells in parallel or is it groups of parallel cells in series?

Yes.

There is an ongoing debate on which is better, but both ways are perfectly valid. Both have advantages.

Several series packs in parallel is more flexible. If you want to fly another plane that requires more/less parallel packs, you can.

Several parallel packs in series allows the cells to balance better.

I do both.

One of my largest purchased packs is a 3s4p Kokam 1200HC pack made from 4 packs of 3s using the Kokam parallel connector blocks. Obviously, the 3s packs are wired in series.

When making my own packs, it is much easier to make paralled packs. My 4s5p packs of Kokam 1500HD are made from 5 cell paralled packs wired in series.

Basically, I ditch the balancing concerns and go with ease of pack creation.

Any links to see the wiring diagram for setting up different configurations of packs. I need to make a pack for an e-flyer (gws), and a voyager E heli.
