Default Lipo Recommendations

I have a ducted fan XB-70 that uses a 14.8 volt, 2200mah lipo. I need an extra battery and as I look at the different choices the 14.8 volt ones are rather expensive. Does anyone have a recommendation for a battery that is a bit more economical? Most are 79 to 99 dollars. Can one use a nickel hydride battery where a Lipo is called for? My brother and I have been flying for over 50 years but are new to electrics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure why a 4s would be any more expensive than a 2s or 3s on a per cell basis. I don't think you'd want to use a NI type battery because of weight/power. I am thinking this is the power battery for the plane, right?

3sx2.2 has got to be a most popular pack there is , but perhaps you can find a pair of 2s packs that are cheaper than the 4s?
I've not bought any 4s packs , but my last 3s x2.2 were only about $10 each and I also bought a pair of 2sx2.2 packs for about $10 each.

Have you checked Hobbypartz and HobbyKing? AND if this happens to be a very high performance job then Haiyin seems to be the newest leader. http://www.haiyinstore.com/compares....=206+&PID=207+

Default RE: Lipo Recommendations

Looking for a LiPo battery recommendation for my P-51D. At WOT, the power plant is pulling 50A. Manual is calling for something in the 4000MaH. What should the C rating be for the battery in this aircraft??

Thanks for the information.

50/4ah=12.5 actual C rating. This means to buy about a 25 C or better. Many labels cannot be trusted , perhaps a decent cheap 20C pack would be fine too.
