Default etec 2cell 1200 enough for a 300 with d drive

Is a 2 cell pack going to be enough power on a retimed 300 or 350 with d drive a 12X6 prop.I want to be able to hover a fan fold ultimate or something along that size.

Thanks, Todd

a 2SET1200 will acceopt 7 to 8A continuous. So it depends on your motor retiming to accept that.

I'm fairly sure you need to go to 2s2p - a 300 or 350 with D gear and 12x6 will surely draw more than 8A - too much for 2s E-tecs. You'll get more power [W=VI] from 2s2p as well since, even if you pull the same amps, voltage drop under load will not be as great.

Cheers, Phil

Go to foamyfactory.com and pull up their motor spec page. A wealth of info including the exact setup your looking for.

Go with 3 cell li-poly 1200's and GWS 350 d-gearing 11X4.7 prop this combo will hover a 11oz. foamy at a little over half throttle and give 13-14 minutes of goofing around trying to learn to hover!!!!!!!!!! I have over 80 charges doing this and the plane combo is flawless, my hovering is not! practice practice practice!

3 of 1200s at 7.4 volts, right, so 3600mAh at 7.4 volts and a 6V GWS 350 motor? Spinning a 11x4.7 prop?
Want to make completely sure! Expensive stuff I am about to buy.
Would that same setup with a prop with more pitch work well with a Sky Scooter? How much space would three batteries take up (compared to say the RS 1600 8.4v)

No, a 3S battery of 1200's will give you 1200 mah at about 12.6 volts.
Make sure you understand how to use Li's.

Ok, I see now. 4.7 volts per cell in series. so about 11.1 volts. I see Kokam has some 1500mAH packs at both 8.4 and 11.1 Volts
Wouldn't 11.1 Volts destroy the 6Volt motor?
Thanks for the help. I am really thinking about switching!!

Now you got it. I know what you are thinking about motor voltage. Use the right prop, dont over current the motor. It's life will be shortened but will still give good flight results.
Have fun and stay in touch.
