Rimfire 50 Help
Just purchased the RImfire 50 for my nearly completed FW190. I got on youtube and found a couple of vids of guys flying big warbirds using the Rimfire 50. Setup with 160esc and 12s packs running 22x12 prop. My question is that when you load this into the ecalc calculator it says max power over limit. 7825 watts, and case temp to high 315. And Voltage close or over limit 38.16
Is this need to worry? The video shows no problems.

Let's start with complete information. There is no Rimfire 50 motor that I can find.

What motor do you have?
There is a Rimfire .55 but that is no where near the power you mention.
There is a Rimfire 1.20 that is 50 mm wide but that is not a Rimfire 50.
There is a Rimfire 50CC that might be what you are talking about.

Voodoo, have you installed your Rimfire 50CC yet?
I might be using one in a Hangar 9 30CC Spitfire. It's a bit much of a motor for this plane but I need a lot of lead in the nose if I use something smaller, less capable and I don't really save weight that way. I've also seen the videos and spoken to the guys doing the 50CC on 12s. It's a monster setup. It makes all the right kind of thrust, noise, etc. However, the amps are a little high IMHO for longevity and flight times. I am hearing from guys who have the motor installed that they are getting 135 amps Wide Open initially and settling down to the 100 amp range WOT in flight. That's pretty high IMHO but completely doable if you have a lot of motor / ESC / Battery cooling.
In my case with a Spitfire, it's a closer cowled aircraft and cooling is an issue at these power levels. I believe I might be looking to use a 21" prop, or potentially a 22" x 8" just to try it out and see what I can get at slightly lower power levels. Based on the in flight speeds of 100-135 mph on the 22"x11" prop, I have a feeling the 22x8 will give, maybe, 85 mph in flight with unlimited vertical for something weighing less than 25 pounds. I don;t think an 81" Spitfire really needs to go 135mph for me, but it does sound amazing and is impressive to see. Just the same, propping down to something in between (like a 22x8) is probably what I'm looking to do.

Not yet. Just got my CC 160 esc in. I will run it on the test stand this weekend. I will be trying a 21X13 prop. After running through several calcs this was the best combo I could come up with. Also the CC ESC has data logging so I can see what it is actually doing.

I have this motor and edge 160 HV on my H9 P-47 30cc. I use the 22 x 8. Plenty of power and not taxing the system. I can not stress enough that you NEED TO UPDATE THE ESC FIRMWARE. This setup sucked when I first put it together last spring, then in July they updated the firmware and wow what a difference.
