Possible KAN cell killer.....
Not sure if this IS new news, but it seems to be here in Australia.
While ordering a new pack of NiCd's for my Speed400 Mugi I asked the GP (Gold Peak) rep here about a new NiMh cell I saw on their website.
GP110AFHR 2/3A size 1100mA/h
I got a datasheet emailed to me. The cell IS a new high rate discharge cell. Similar to a KAN 1050 but better (on paper at least !).
Rated for up to 15Amps continuous.
Internal resistance of 0.006 ohms (less than half of a KAN 1050's if I'm right).
Weight of 21.5 grams
Fast charge
I have cells coming for a test pack. If anyone cares I'll post a test report in a couple of weeks.
Of course, it's not a LiPoly, but that's hardly a fair comparision.

Yes, I'd like to know what your results were. Not everyone can buy a $150 new charger and two or three new $50 dollar lipo packs this year! If these cells are better than KAN, then I'd sure like to know!

fwiw regularly run KAN1050's at >15A cont. with pretty good voltage under load ... iirc 20A is no problem for long term, and some are pushing to 25A and up (cell life suffers of course). imo lots of the IR qutoes on paper don't mean much...

RE: Possible KAN cell killer.....
Got my new Gold Peak GP110AFHR 1100mA cells this week. I have an 8 cell pack. Done two tests with it now, one bench capacity test and one flight.
The bench test was done with an Itech IQ5 battery analyser/conditioner.
The pack capacity came out at 1187mAh which is slightly better than spec of 1100mAh, so far so good.
The flight test was a bit more spectactular. My Speed400 Mugi was far more energetic from the start of the flight, notiable climb advantage over my NiCd pack. Flight time was much better than I expected V's the old NiCd 700mAh pack. I expected maybe double but it seems more like tripple, perhaps due to loosing less energy in heating the pack. At the end of the flight the Speed400 was quite hot but the 8 cell pack was not.
Looks like they work.
I don't have a KAN pack to compare it too so that is up too someone else now.

These do sound promising. I'd also like to see a side by side comparison with the KAN packs if anyone has both.
There's nothing like good competition to get us better and better batteries.

Shhhh! Don't let the car guys see this. I need these cells for my Micro RS4. Between these and my "cheater" motor, I think I should be able to keep up with those blasted X-Ray M18s.

Where is the best place to buy KAN cells&packs also Gold Peak. Does anyone know how much the KAN 1050 8-cell pack weighs? I need to feed a pair of eps 400c motors-thinking 2-1050's in parallel. Also wonder if the gws eps 400's con take 11v for short bursts and last awhile?
