Default Battery for Axi ac1215 extreme brushless

I have an Axi mini ac1215 extreme 6.00:1 brushless with a Phoenix 25p esc.I'm attempting to power it with a li-poly 7.4 volt 1500mah,and tried recently, an 11.1 volt 2000mah lipo. The problem is that the lvc kicks in before full throttle with any prop bigger than a 9-4.5.Model motor's website gives the option of using a 10-6,11-7,and a 12-8 prop with this motor. My lvc is set for 6v for the 7.4's and 9 for the 11.1 v cells, current limiting is set to insensitive, and brake is off.I'm new to flying,(and just as new to battery talk)and I think I may have screwed up in the math. What battery is required to run this motor with the recommended props?

Hi

I am really new to the brushless scen, I am running one of the outrunners on cp 1700's.

I am thinking of using the Extreme on a df application. Have you tried running your setup on NiCads? If not why not try that first.

Just a thought, please let me know what you think.

Regards
Hilmar

I've managed to get the motor to keep full throttle with a 10-7 prop,on a kan nimh 7cell 2/3"A" 1100mah,which runs at 8.4 volts(lvc on the ph25p set at 5v).I can understand why my 7.4volt 1500 mah lipo's may complain at this prop size, but why would an 11.1volt 2000 mah not be able to handle it.I have a triton charger, and the lipo's charge up in just over an hour, which gives about 20min flight time with the 7.4 lipo's on a slow stick with a 350 motor,so there seems to be no problem with the cells.Anyone have any idea's.It's a crime to see this motor sitting around gathering dust.

According to my brochure for this motor it is rated to 9,6v maximum. Dont you think you may be overpowering it with the 11,1v setup and your controller is buffering?

The spec's for the motor,as listed on the AXI insert that came in the box.
--------------------------
MiniAC 1215 extreme 6,00:1
no of cells=6-8
rpm=6370
max. efficiency=77%
max. efficiency current=14-22 a(>73%)
current capacity=25a/20s
--------------------------
Zee,in what brochure did you see the 9.6v max for this motor?

Dude, with a 10x6 prop and a 3s lipoly you are pulling close to 30 amps. No 2000mah 3s1p lipoy pack will sustain that amount of current. No wonder the LVC kicks in. Here are some #s for reference from ICARE:
Mini AC 1215/EXTREME motor measurement:

Cells Prop. Size Gearbox RPM U / V I / A P- OUT (W) ETA (%)
6 Aer CAM 12x8" 6,00:1 5690 6,3 26,8 118 70
6 Aer CAM 12x9" 6,00:1 5500 6,2 28,6 125 70
7 Aer CAM 11x7" 6,00:1 6820 7,3 26,9 141 72
7 Aer CAM 11x8" 6,00:1 6620 7,2 28,7 148 72
8 Aer CAM 9,5x5" 6,00:1 8830 8,7 19,2 120 72
8 Aer CAM 10x6" 6,00:1 8460 8,6 22,6 141 73
8 Aer CAM 10x8" 6,00:1 7810 8,2 28,6 171 73

What Fritz said!

Your 1500's can only get you 12A @ 8C, your 2000's (?brand) no more than 12A-16A - you need at least 2s3p of the 1500's and 3s2p of the 2000's to have any hope of getting the 30A required to power this motor.

Cheers, Phil
