MRC SuperBrain 969 and LiPos
I bought this charger because it specifically states in can safely charge lithium ion/polymer batteries up to 8 cells. Well, I thought I followed the directions to a T, but on the third discharge/charge sequence I fried my 2 cell LiPo. The charger is a great charger for everything else, but I still want to charge LiPos with it. I haven't bought another Lipo because of the cost. Ok here is my question!
How can I safely use "this charger" to charge LiPos? Can I hook up resistors or diodes in a fashion after the charger to safely charge these? Is there an INEXPENSIVE device I can use along with it?
I want to fly electric, but I can't keep buying chargers nor do I want to spend a couple of hundred dollars on the best. I feel MRC should be liable for what they stated and if it will not charge LiPos safely, they should replace it with one that will.

I bought my son one of these chargers and he loves it but it does state in directions that you cannot leave LiPos on charge without monitoring temperature of batteries..

You guys should read the following thread in another forum:

Basically the MRC charger is unsafe for lithiums as it is still functioning as a peak detector, but Lipos don't work like that. The new Astro 109 is the one to get for all lipo needs. Either that or a dedicated Lipo charger from FMA for small packs
Lipos are great, but I don't want to risk a fire. The second best option is to have two chargers and get a number of NIMH packs. Fly one while the other two are chraging.
Yes there is a steeper learning curve with electrics and each makes his fair share of mistakes
Hope this Helps,
Terry
