Does more MaH equal longer flight duration
I have just finished a Wattage Tangent. It is powered by a 9.6V 800MaH battery. I was wondering whether putting in a 9.6V 2000MaH battery would increase the running time/flight time on the engine? - or is it not as straight forward as that.
This question may e answered in a thread somewhere else on this site, but I cant find it - if someone here knows and can point me to it, that would be great also.
Thanks

RE: Does more MaH equal longer flight duration
It's almost that straightforward. More mAh does mean more motor run time.
However, you have to consider weight. If the 2000mAh battery is heavier, then you'll need to run at higher power levels to keep the plane flying. Now, if you were flying around at full throttle before, you're going to be short on power.
I suspect that you're looking at those tantalizing 2000mAh AA NiMH batteries at WalMart or Radio Shack. Those rechargeable batteries are not good for electric planes. They're meant for low-current devices like digital cameras and CD players.

RE: Does more MaH equal longer flight duration
I was looking at a Great Planes 9.6v 2000MaH NiMH battery - I have emailed them to see what the weight of one battery pack is - I was thinking that if it does not weigh too much more than my current battery pack it might be worth a try....... It says it is designed for fast discharging which I guess is what I need. I will stay away from any non-rc brands. Thanks for the advice
