RE: gws defective
It will depend on who you bought it from. Many GWS products are distributed exclusively by Horizon Hobby. If you bought the item from a Horizon dealer, odds are it came from Horizon and that's where it should go.
Many smaller online shops import the GWS items you can't get from Horizon direct from Taiwan. You'll have to contact the place you bought it from directly and see what they have to say, since it's not really practical to spend $20 to send a $10 motor to Taiwan for replacement.
As a warning, many of these direct importers sell GWS stuff with no warranty, expressed or implied. If it's not defective out of the box within X number of days, you get to buy a new one Sometimes, just removing the item from its packaging voids even that warranty.
