New Toshiba Lipo recharges 80% capacity in 1 minute!!! Breakthrough
TOKYO -- Toshiba Corporation today announced a breakthrough in lithium-ion batteries that makes long recharge times a thing of the past. The company's new battery can recharge 80% of a battery's energy capacity in only one minute, approximately 60 times faster than the typical lithium-ion batteries in wide use today, and combines this fast recharge time with performance-boosting improvements in energy density....

WOW. Now.... Does anyone have an educated guess on time to our market based on history of similar product releases? This will drastically change the way electric power is viewed.

wonder who will be the first to release a 100 amp charger 
When the entire cities' lights dim for a minute, you'll know someone's charging a battery for flight. hmm, 10S4P 8000mah pack, charges to 42 volts, 60C charge rate would need 480 amps at 42 volts, for about 20KW,.. anyone got any 1 guage wire?
I think this really will be great, even if we just take the charge up to 2C or 3C, although that would require a 24 amp charger which I don't think we'll ever see, maybe 16 amps at best,.. still 672 watts needed. Should still be great for all those flying the little foamies with the small packs.

Good point Gary. It never crossed my mind but that will bring big changes to the charger market.

Not to slam your hopes, but "contacts" tell me these packs are not going to be the future for r/c.
At least not for motor packs.[:'(]

Remember that the early lipos had to be ganged together to get the "juice"? well perhaps in the infancy of these they may not be suitable but perhaps could be "ganged" in such a way that the application could be suited to RC and as technology with them continues to progress they may be fine for RC usage sooner than we all might expect.
