Swollen Lipo - what should I do?
Good Morning all.
I left a 3 cell lipo on charge last night and came down this morning to find that the charger was still charging it and the battery was nicely swollen.
What are the next steps? (apart from unplugging it)
Many thanks
Alec

A bucket of salt water for a day or so, then punture packs and salt water again for at least a day. Will render pack harmless for disposal.
NEVER,NEVER,NEVER leave lipos charging unattended. You are very lucky you didn't wake up to the sounds of the fire company on it's way to your house or worse.

Thank you Glacier Girl! I was hoping that there may be some way of recovering it! Nevermind.
Any ideas what causes this to happen? Its a new set of cells (only a few charges).

Sorry, there's no fixing that pack... It's toast.
Charging the pack incorrectly, or charger malfunction cause packs to bloat. How were you charging it? You need to charge with a LiPoly-capable charger, set to the correct cell count, at a rate as close to 1C as you can get without going over. At 1C, it will take roughly an hour, so there's none of this "put the pack on and go to bed" stuff going on. NEVER do that!!!
Please, read the documentation that came with the packs and follow it.
Crash damage can also cause packs to bloat. It may not be immediately apparent, and could show up hours later. Charging could trigger it.
Plain old random failure plays a small part as well. You could be doing everything right, only to wake up one morning to "silver sausages" for breakfast
