Default Watt Meter Connection?

I have been researching Watt meters. I am wondering why they are meant to be hooked up between the battery and the ESC (This is what the manuals say to do) to read amp draw etc.? Wondering why it wouldnt be better to put between the motor and the ESC to show how much power is actually making it to the motor. In this way it also seems you could test for efficiency of you ESC as well...

Default RE: Watt Meter Connection?

On a brushed motor the output of the ESC is pulsed DC, the WattMeter might have a problem with that. But you could try it. On a brushless system it is 3 phase AC which would really give a wattmeter fits I think.
