Default Charging NiMH packs with wal wart?

Can anyone tell me if it is safe to slow charge a NiMH pack with a walwart charger that comes will almost all new radio systems?

Yes it is safe but it will take a LONG time to charge them. If the rate is less than C/20 you might never reach the fully charged state. So with the normal 60 mA wall wart the maximum capacity pack you can charge from the wall wart is right around 1200 mAh.
