Brushless setup for Mini FuntanaX
I bought E-flite's Mini Funtana X last week. From some of the reviews I've read it appears that the flying weight of the MFX is slightly hevier than predicted. I am considering an E-flite Power 10 in stead of the prescribed Park 480 Brushless setup. Has anybody done a similar upgrade (power to weight ratio)? After all, the Power 10 is recomended for 3d flying weights of 790g- 1020g. My other Aircraft is a art-tech Edge 540t with a Park 450 outrunner. I was a bit dissapointed with the performance and would rather go too big than small. It would be kind if someone could give me advice on the pwr setup and choise of motor.

RE: Brushless setup for Mini FuntanaX
In the 3D Flying Forum, there is a "E-Flite Mini Funtana X" thread. You might want to take a look thru it. Most have used the Park 480 1020kv, but some have gone with the Power 10. I have one of these that I am putting together.
I am going to go with a Great Planes Rimfire. The first choice is the 35-30-1250kv, it is more along the specs. of the Power 10, but it cost $55, and is a bargain deal vs. the Power 10 at $75. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLWU0&P=0 I am actually gettin one of these for a Mini Ultra Stick, should really haul. The second choice is the 35-30-1450kv http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...6&I=LXLWU1&P=K Little higher kv rating and only slightly higher amp draw, but provides a good amount of higher total and constant watt output. Should out-perform the Power 10.
After really researching and looking at all of the motors, E-Flite and the Great Planes Rimfire - I am most likely going with the Great Planes Rimfire 35-30-1450kv on the Mini Funtana X. It has a higher total watt and constant watt rating than the Power 10, and is $20 cheaper.

RE: Brushless setup for Mini FuntanaX
Thanks for the info. I'm gonna go with the power 10, I can get it for the same price as the 480. Will have to make some modifications to the cowell .I'll just have to manage the power better and try not to torque roll my funtanaX into the ground on it's maiden. Like a friend of mine says: Too much power is just too little!
