LIPO Forming

Hi guys....A question that has been bothering me for a while.
I've been told by one individual, that a new LIPO battery should "broken in and formed", similar to what we do with non-Lipo batteries. I've not seen or heard of this anywhere else, except this one individual. He is very knowledgable about electronics and such so I do tend to pay attrntion to what he says, but this time I question his statement.

Has anyone else heard of this or is he full of hooey? If it's true, what would the procedure for forming be? I have a bunch of new batteries for my boats that I want to start using.

Thanks for any help you can offer on this subject.

A quick scan of the results showed comments back to 2007 or earlier.

Most of the Lipo battery suppliers say to use the Lipo "gently" the first few cycles.

Thank you, very much Rafeal. That link is a huge help for me to understand it all. Thanks also, Cuckk2. I'll have to figure out to run a race boat "gently".

May all of your landings be wheels down on the ground!
